Capacity Planning

The i4C Capacity Planning solution for IT infrastructures is an application of the i4C forecasting engine. It manages a registry of systems and subsystems, mapping out each one’s characteristic operating data to enable management of load time series, with data depth definable in the configuration phase.

For each time series defined, new load measuring data are periodically acquired, and on the basis of these, the forecasts are refreshed in batch format and then automatically generated to the highest level of granularity.

The operator then mines data at different levels of clustering, both between systems and subsystems and though temporal aggregation, in order to perform monitoring activities and manage the result produced. These summary reports are available at an aggregate level of detail, but the user can obtain more appropriate levels of detail at any time.

The solution is based on a web interface that allows both basic operations and administration and configuration functions.

Innovative tools such as Capacity Planning are becoming increasingly necessary in response to widespread use of virtual systems and planned corporate investments in cloud computing.
